Remington.....Loooong over-due post

WOW!!! Busy mommy, busy life.....no blogging?? Whats with that?

So Mr. Remington is a whopping 18 months old now. He's no baby. He's a freakin toddler!!!! He has learned SOO much in these last few months.

Lets see, He blows bubbles with his spit in his mouth. Yes, total boy huh?

He dances ALL.THE.TIME! If a commercial comes on TV with music he stops and dances. Dances to our cell phone ringtones, dances in the car, dances even when we sing! He loves to dance!

His favorite snack of all time is......ICE! He loves eating crushed ice. He's actually figured out how to get the ice out of the 'fridge by placing a bowl in the 'water/ice' dispenser and "Wala!!!'

He gives kisses on command now...and not to just us...the dogs get kisses too! His little lips are the best kissers!

He 'blows' on his food and can blow bubbles out of the bubble wand too!! He gets sooo excited to see those bubbles fly out when he knows HE did it!

He waves 'bye bye' to everyone..even random people at the store :)

He has a favorite truck that must go with him everywhere. We're trying real hard not lose it either 'cause we got it in a happy meal toy of all places. But out of all the toys he has, and I mean its a mini toy store, this truck is the one he prefers.

He climbs on the table, the couch, the chairs and anything else that is 'climbable' .

He can put those wooden puzzles together! Makes us so proud to watch him put them together.

..and best yet?? He pats his 'peepee' when he needs to be changed. He'll then run to his room, grab a diaper and run back out to the living room, lay down and hold his diaper up!!! It's getting close to potty training day!! OH -- and he absolutely LOVES throwing his diapers away. He gets soo excited when we say "Go throw it in the trash" . He giggles the whole way to the trash can.

I can't get over how much this little boy has grown. I stare at him all day long and wonder what he'll end up doing with his life. He's got one heck of a arm on him so I'm hoping a pro baseball player :)

Love you Sweetie Pie!!!

Big day tomorrow!

I am a few days short of 8 weeks pregnant and tomorrow we get to see the 'lil bambino via Ultrasound. I realllly hope things go well. I am SUPER nauseous, can't eat much more then toast and have only been able to leave the house twice this week. Yea so...pretty crappy feeling. AND I took anther preg test this morning and the "positive" line showed up before the control line, so that was re assuring. Its still nerve-racking though. I just hope its in the right spot and has a healthy beating heart. I'll keep ya'll posted!!

PS- in the meantime, I'm going to be posting alot of 'back dated' posts of Remi and 'milestones' :)

SURPRISE!!!!!!!!

Well, much to our surprise...in a way.....we are expecting baby #2!!!!! I am 5 weeks along and due around Jan. 5 2013.

We have been trying on and off for the last 6 months...nothing too serious, just doing 'the deed' on the right days and thats it.
Remember back to conceiving our son, we tried for almost a 1.5 years and had countless rounds of the fertility drug clomid, estrogen and progesterone, 2 artificial inseminations (both failed). So THIS baby was a complete surprise 'cause we didn't try at all - Literally!

I'll explain.

Last month I tore the meniscus in my left knee. I've been pretty 'couch bound' due to the pain and when I'm in pain.....sex is the last thing on my mind. Fortunately for Hubby, our anniversary was last month so to 'be a good wife' I gave in :). It made the total of sex for the month equal - ONCE!! Once the entire month. (yea, I know..Lame)

So in the back (and front) of my head I thought there is NO way I got pregnant. It wasn't "baby making sex", it was anni sex. I had no idea when I was ovulating and didn't really care - resort back to broken knee -

So there I sat, 5 weeks after my last period and I thought "Hmm.. well its not unusual to go this long between periods but I have a few 'internet cheapies' in the bathroom and ironically I have to pee!

I pee. 2 double pink lines. OMG. What? How? When? WHAAAT!!!!!!!

I call for my husband, still sitting on the potty, "What the hell is this?" ...laughing while holding up the stick.
He even said "Whaaat!!!!!"
He runs out to walgreens to get a First Response. I push out the little pee I can salvage and we wait.......

There they sat. Two...Pink....Lines....

Mike is in the kitchen feeding our boy and I yell from the bathroom ...
"I"M PREGNANT!! I"M PREGNANT!!!!"

He comes running in with the biggest smile ever and said "Really!?!? OMG!! How the heck??"

It was pretty epic.....

We had to 'sit on the news' for a good night before we told our family.

Here is the youtube link on how we told MY parents.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fakiEduBBAI

As for Mikes parents, He called his mom saying "Hey, I made something for Keri and I need to know what you think. I'm going to send you a picture on your cell" She says "Okay" -- He then sends her a picture of those two famous pink lines.....

....Can't believe we're going to do this again!!!

15 months old!

A little late, but we've just been having too much fun!!

Re-cap -- Rem just had tubes put in 4 weeks ago. His post-op went perfectly. He got fitted with custom ear plugs and he actaully leaves them in for bath time!

March 17 marked exactly one month since his surgery. He has learned so many new words/sounds just this week! He tends to add "eeee" to the end of everything but he now says "Mom-eee" "Dad- eee" "Pup-eee" "baby-eee"...he's said "Chair" and "book" a few times but it was after repeating us. We are so proud for how much he has learned to say these last few weeks. I'm really hoping he learns enough by the times hes 18 months old so that we can pass on the speech therapist.

Here are his 15 month stats:

Weight: He weighs 24.5 lbs (50%)

Height: He is 33 inches (95%) TALL boy!

Head Size:
19 inches (25%)

Diaper Size: He wears size medium and large cloth diapers and size 4 in disposables

Clothes Size:
He wears 18 month to 24 month clothes! My big boy!

Sleep: He's always been super great at going to bed (started that routine early on) He's been waking up around 7am now but goes to be around 830p every night. He'll then lay down for a nap around 11am and maybe one more mid afternoon nap around 3 or 4p. Its sooo cute 'cause all you have to say is "Go night night??" ...and he literally runs to his room and starts climbing on the rails to his crib. Like I said -- he's super easy to get to bed.

Favorite Activities: Loves playing outside. If the back door is shut, he goes over and beats on it - his que for telling us he wants outside. We recently got pet chickens and he absolutly LOVES playing and watching them. He has to check on them every morning before he does anything else.

Favorite Toys:
He's back to loving books!! He'll bring one to us, sit in our lap and gets super excited when its his turn to flip the page. He also loves throwing things..anything...and he's super good at it!!

Eating: We have arranged the pantry so that all his snacks are on the bottom shelf. When hes hungry, he'll go over and get a snack out and bring it to us to open. Oh..and the ONLY way he eats PB&J is if you cut the sandwich in slices...like strips...not chunks. Ugh..picky boy!

Talking: Well its been a month since he's got tubes put in and he now says "Mommy" "daddy" "puppy" "baby" "book" "chair" and sometimes "Yes and no"

Milestones:
His talking!!!! Just paid over 1k on his ears and its finally paying off!!:)

Here are some recent pictures of Mr. Remington James <3

The cutest 'cloth' butt

I just melt when I see Remis 'cloth' butt :) He is clothed on my days off work (4 days a week) and I just love seeing his cute booty in fluff :)

His post op apt is tomorrow. Not sure what they'll do - I'm sure they'll look in his ears and tell me that they look better (I hope) and he will be fitted for custom ear plugs. Bath time freaks us out right now. We wash his hair with a wash cloth and swimming this summer will be a challenge.

Then on Tuesday.....he turns 15 months old!!! Almost 1.5 years old. We'll be back at the doctors for shots :/ This will be the first time his pediatrician will hear about his tube surgery. I wonder what her reaction will be.

Anyways, he is getting used to his 'new' ears. Certain sounds still startle him but not as bad anymore. He talks way more (no real words yet) but Mike and I take one hour each evening and sit with Rem and really focus on teaching him things.

Life is great! Heading to the park today :)

Tube surgery = SUCCESS

It was a nerve-wracking day that's for sure!
We had to be at the surgery center at 6am for check in. The staff was EXTREMELY nice and was super kid friendly to Remi. The had a teddy bear waiting for him on his bed and sponge bob stickers. Every one of the staff members came and said Hello to us and told us what their 'role' was.

Before we knew it, it was time for him to go back into the OR. One of the lady nurses came to take him. Remi didn't cry when they took him away (which helped ME alot) He seemed more confused then anything. We waited in the waiting room for about 15 mins when the Doctor came and got us. We all went into a tiny room where he explained that Remis ears were super bad. They had tons of fluid and puss behind the ear drums so tubes we're an excellent choice. A few mins later, they called us back to see Rem.
That was hard.
A nurse was holding Rem. His eyes were closed, his head a floppy as a newborns and he was making the most horrible sounding cry. I sat in the recliner and held him. He was not happy, still out of it and sounded so scared. Took him about 30 mins to wake up fully and when he did, he was ready to walk around! After a few sips of apple juice, we were allowed to go home.

We were warned that Rem would be super sleepy once we got home and would most likely sleep the rest of the day. WRONG. Long story short, he was more energetic then he was the day before! All he wanted to do was play outside, eat, and dance! We even went to Lowes to get stuff for the back yard.
In just a few hours, he learned the word "truck" and "yes" ~ He seems SOO much happier already!! Tubes were a SUCCESS!!

Tomorrow is the day!

Remington gets tubes tomorrow morning. This is a long time comin'! Gosh! We've been dealing with ear infections since he was 2 months old. We knew eventually he'd need tubes so this isn't a shock to us.

Met with the ENT yesterday for his pre-op . We happen to LOVE him and the staff.  We have to be at the surgery center at 6am and his surgery time is at 7am. They said we should be home and happy by 830a.

I'm so anxious (and scared) but more or less ready to see how this will help him. I can't wait to not have to deal with bad ear infections a few times a month. I hope the tubes help his speech and prevent him from getting sick all the time.

I'll update tomorrow night :)

It's Time......

For the past week, Remi has been super sick yet again. He had a fever of 103 for 5 days straight!!! He wouldn't eat, hardly drank anything and was super lethargic. Took him to urgent care on day 4 and was diagnosed with ..and I quote " A REALLY bad double ear infection".  *And lets take note:  this is now his 12th double ear infection.....his 2nd in just one month* Back on antibiotics (We had just finished antibiotics a week and half prior from another ear infection). The doctor recommended tubes ASAP 'cause she was concerned about his ear drums and hearing. (Again, we've seen an ENT back in September but he was hesitant to give Rem tubes at such a young age -9 months)

So I called a different ENT then who we saw in September and got an apt scheduled for the following week. That night, Rem was falling over every few seconds, had no balance at all, basically walking in circles. By the next morning, he would fall flat on his back randomly and just lay there. My mom was here and suggested we call the ENT to see if we could get in sooner. I called and they said to bring him in within the hour!

The new ENT said that the infection was effecting his equilibrium, listened to us explain his history (and actually gasped when we explained Rem being on IV antibiotics for an ear infection at just 2 months old) looked at his ears and said "Lets get you in for tubes ASAP" - Long story short - we have the surgery scheduled in 5 days!! Talk about quick!!

So this coming Friday, Feb 17th, we will go in for tubes!! I'm really nervous of course but can't wait to see how well this helps Remington. I'm so pleased knowing that if he does get anther ear infection, it won't be half as bad as what we've been through the last 12 months.

I'll keep you all posted on Friday. Pray for Remi that he gets through the procedure fine.

Check this out!!!

I always knew that Mike and Remington looked alike --- Look what I found! No mistaking them now!

And I've been told numerous times that Remington looks like me too but I never saw it.....until now......

Pretty Crazy huh???

Water bowl Fun

Kids love water right?? I mean, its a given!! So it wasn't a shocker that Remington loves to play in the doggy water bowl. We usually tell him "no!' but today, I was feeling care-free :) It was the best time of both of our lives. I think I was having more fun watching him...... I love him!

Haircut and Naked-ness

Rem has super duper fine fuzzy hair .....basically hair that needs to be kept short. I did, however, try to let his hair grow out in hopes that it would be this super cute boy hair-do. Nope! Just made him look super scraggly. My sister is a hair stylist so while I was there babysitting her kids, she cut his hair! He looks super cute now :) **Although I don't technically have a post picture of it yet, here is the hair "in the makings"**

For awhile now, its been really difficult to get a diaper on Remington. He flips, and turns, and arches his back like no other to avoid getting changed.
Today was different. We got it on him but couldn't keep it ON!

My silly boy :)

Having fun being a kid

Remington sure knows how to live it up! The last few weeks have been nothing but great!! His health is back to %100 normal - no more antibiotics!!!  He has been off the bottle for a whole week now. He still drinks Milk but now just from his sippy cup.  He's sllllooooooley learning how to eat with a fork at dinner. And as I say every time, he LOVES being outside :) He points at everything with his finger and 'talk' or more or less mumbles but its cute and fun to try to figure out his words.

We go to the park a few times a week now and he loves sitting and running the sand through his fingers. He talks like crazy at the park, running to each piece of equipment and laughs.

Every Thursday at the mall there is a free Kids Club. They set up a stage and put on singing and dancing show for all the kids. The parents and kids all pile up on the floor with mats and we let the kids run wild. Remington and I go every Thursday and today, Daddy got to come! We get a free carousal ride as well so daddy got to take Rem on the carousal for the first time!

I love this kid more then words can say :)
